Helping Your Kids Develop A Meaningful Connection With God
A transformative journey through one-hour live, online, interactive weekly classes designed for 8–13 year olds.
Programme Duration: One year
Starting: 3pm (UK) Sunday 27th April
DO YOUR KIDS UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF ‘BENEFICENT’ AND ‘GLORIOUS’?
Many of us read the translations to the Arabic text of the Qur’an but don’t understand the exact meaning of words like ‘Beneficent,’ ‘Glorious,’ and ‘Merciful,’ let alone our kids who do not find these terms in their vocabulary at all.
We understand that teaching your kids about Islam can be a challenging task because of the lack of effective teaching styles and resources that can inspire the young generation. Kids find it difficult to relate to, absorb and understand Islam because:
- They can’t understand the complex language or unfamiliar jargon used to convey the messages of Islam.
- The teaching style is too strict and fails to inspire young minds.
- The standards of expectation for Islamic knowledge are often lower than mainstream education, making kids believe that it is not as important as academic learning.
- Many parents make their children follow Islam by invoking fear of punishment rather than instilling the love of listening to their Lord.
- There is more emphasis on rote learning, where kids blindly memorise without understanding what they’re learning or connecting with God.
- They are taught rituals like prayers and wudu, but not other important things that bring God to heart and mind in meaningful ways, such as talking to Him and asking for His help, even in small matters.
If your kids are facing the same hurdles in getting a sound Islamic education that makes them connect with God...
I’m here to reassure you that you and your kids are not alone in this struggle.
Many Muslim parents search endlessly for programmes and resources that could establish their children’s connection with their faith and help them develop a positive spiritual mindset, but cannot find one.
If you are one of those parents, it’s not your fault. Here’s why:
- Most programmes and initiatives follow a style of teaching that pushes kids further away from learning about Islam instead of developing their character and bringing them closer to God.
- Kids in the UK spend about 10 hours every week in after-schools or weekend schools. These long hours of commitment make it difficult for kids and parents to fit these programmes into their busy schedules.
- Mainstream education is more relatable and interesting and finding resources for Islamic education that are equally captivating becomes difficult for parents.
But this isn’t how our young generation should be introduced to our beautiful religion. They need to know who God is, why we worship Him and what His commands mean to us so that they can grow up as confident believers.
An annual programme that comprises weekly one-hour live, interactive classes covering six core themes to help your kids understand, connect with and love Islam!
This programme aims to help your kids find the path to positive wellbeing and a spiritual mindset.
Our kids can’t be protected from the world’s trials, but they can be prepared to face them
The Prophet (ﷺ) said
"Indeed each of you is a shepherd and all of you will be questioned regarding your flock.
(JAMI’ AT-TIRMIDHI, 1705)
The upbringing of kids is a huge responsibility, and the chaos, enticements, delusions and confusions of our generation make this a more challenging task.
Introducing the
Our Muslim Kids Programme
You will be able to engage and inspire your kids to connect with God and fulfil this responsibility beautifully. It will prepare your kids so that they can:
- Love God and follow His commands with the hope of reward rather than fear of punishment.
- Relate to and enjoy the experience of learning about their religion, Islam.
- Feel empowered in their Muslim identity and confidently adopt the mindset of a believer.
- View their faith as a positive anchor that makes them feel supported and loved in their Muslim community.
- Learn in a professional and systematic setting where they are taught with the right tone of voice to keep them interested.
- View the concepts of Islam as beneficial rather than something being imposed on them.
- Connect with like-minded Muslim kids and families where they can become a part of something great and have a positive influence.
- Learn relevant modern-day skills like life skills, personal development and wellbeing to lead a purposeful, God-centred life.
- Learn to detach themselves from the distractions around them and stay steadfast in their faith.
"Excellent lessons. We loved the variety and different sources you used. They were so engaging!! Loved the interactive elements. Really well thought out and put together Masha’ Allah.”
Asima (parent)
"I think your classes are very good and helpful to kids in their day to day lives. You are impacting how they see Allah in a positive way and you're helping them understand what Islam is actually about in a way they can understand."

I WAS DISAPPOINTED. I WAS FRUSTRATED. BUT I
WAS NOT READY TO GIVE UP…
I’m Ayesha, Mrs. Ikhlef to the kids, and I’m here to make learning about Islam inspiring and engaging for young minds!
While looking to educate my kids about Islam, I had often been left feeling rather underwhelmed and disappointed.
I embraced and fell in love with Islam a few years ago, and ever since motherhood, I’ve tried a variety of Islamic educational platforms to help instil that same love into my kids.
As an English Muslim woman and mother to two young knowledge seekers living in London, the task of building their Islamic foundation proved to be tougher than I had imagined.
NOT HAVING THE SAME EXPERIENCE IN MY CHILDHOOD, I WAS ALARMED AT THE GAP BETWEEN WHAT THE QUR'AN TEACHES AND WHAT MUSLIMS UNDERSTAND AND FOLLOW.
I couldn’t understand how our faith, which promoted such rich values and character-building habits and gave such a clear introduction to God, was practised by Muslims with such disconnect. All around me, I found a mechanical and routine learning and application of rituals without much focus on building a connection with the One Who is the Lord of all that exists, developing a spiritual mindset and internalising the messages taught by our faith.
I felt frustrated at the lack of resources and learning material that kids could relate to and easily understand. I was concerned that they were not being taught in an atmosphere that promoted a genuine and meaningful connection between their well-being and faith and not being inspired to live a God-centred life with mindful actions at its core.
They were praying
without knowing why
It was almost like giving them answers without even telling the questions, and because of this rote learning technique, I found that kids didn’t understand or care to understand the basic principles of Islam. They were saying the duas, but only in a ritualistic manner without putting their hearts into it and understanding the meaning of the words.
It wasn’t until I did my own research and decided to find a solution to the problem I was facing that I was able to help my kids in developing a meaningful relationship with God.
I wanted my kids to talk to God like they talked to a close friend. I was desperate for quality learning that would cultivate the kids’ natural sense of wonder, amazement, and awe to connect them meaningfully with the foundations of Islam without alienating them in the process.
So instead of getting stuck in the cycle of helplessness and frustration, I decided to do something about it.
I THOUGHT TO MYSELF,
“WHAT WOULD GOD WANT ME TO DO ABOUT IT?”
With this thought, I decided to channel my passion and energy into creating something that would help Islamic Education for kids reach its full potential. And this led to the birth of Our Muslim Kids, an initiative to help kids develop a spiritual mindset, improve their overall well-being aligned with their faith, and achieve a positive association with their Islamic identity.
I firmly believe that in order to love something and make it a part of your life, you need to have sound knowledge of it and it should be something that impresses, amazes and inspires you. And this is what I aim to provide our young generation with through this effort, God willing!
